We are a congregation of the churches of Christ, meeting on White Hart Lane. Ordinary people, holding to an extraordinary claim — that Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, was raised, and is Lord.
Who we are
Christians only,
not the only
Christians.
Churches of Christ trace their conviction back past every denomination to the New Testament itself. The plea is simple and it is old: to be the church described in the Scriptures, doing what it did, calling itself what it called itself, and adding nothing.
That is why you will not find a denominational name on our sign. We wear the name of Christ. Each congregation governs its own affairs under the oversight of its own elders — there is no headquarters above us, no synod, and no central office setting policy.
It also shapes how we handle the Bible. Where the Scriptures speak we aim to speak; where they are silent we do not bind what God has not bound. That has kept us plain, and it has kept us free to be corrected.
What you will find on a Sunday is a congregation of people at very different stages — some who have been here for decades, some who arrived last month, and some who are still working out whether they believe any of it. All of them are welcome.
- We hold to the Bible as God's word and as sufficient.
- We are Christians only, wearing the name of Christ rather than of any denomination.
- We gather each Sunday for singing, prayer, teaching, the Lord's Supper and giving.
- We baptise believers by immersion, as the New Testament instructs.
- We are governed locally, by elders, with deacons serving and evangelists preaching.
Our story
The beginning of Church of Christ, 36 White Hart Lane
“Every great work of God started with a vision and a few faithful people willing to take the first step.”
Minister Kufre Okon, who led the first Bible lesson at the inaugural service and leads the congregation's worship and teaching.
The Church of Christ at 36 White Hart Lane was born out of a burden for souls and a vision to establish the New Testament church in Tottenham.
On Sunday 3 November 2024, at 3pm UK time, history was made as the Lord added a new lampstand in North London. Through the instrumentality of Minister Kufre Okon, his family, and the faithful support of Bro. and Sister Benson and family, and Bro. Fortune Sampson, the congregation held its inaugural worship service.
To assist in establishing this work, Minister Danquah and brethren from the West Ham congregation came in full strength, lending their support, encouragement and fellowship.
The first service was glorious. Min. Kufre Okon led the first Bible lesson on the timeless theme “Good News”, while Min. Danquah delivered the first sermon on “Grace Has Appeared to All Men” — Titus 2:11. Other ministers present who led other items of worship included Evangelist Usen Ekpo and Bro. Ndiuwem Sampson.
On that day, about 53 members gathered to sing, pray and read the Bible — including Emaediong Inyang and Kubiat Ibanga. It was a joyous fellowship, filled with love and praise, that drew the attention of neighbours around White Hart Lane.
From that small but faith-filled beginning, the congregation has continued to grow spiritually and numerically, holding fast to the doctrine of Christ.
To the glory of God, on 10 August 2026 the church’s registration as a charity was officially approved, with a community outreach arm called Doorstep Support — taking the good news from the building to the doorsteps of our community.

What we are for
Four things,
in this order.
Everything the congregation does is meant to serve one of these. When something stops serving them, we stop doing it.
Knowing Christ
Everything begins here. Not knowing about Him — knowing Him, through the Scriptures that reveal Him and the life that follows from believing them.
Growing in faith
Nobody arrives finished. We teach, we study, we ask questions, and we expect one another to be further on in ten years than we are today.
Building community
A church is a set of relationships, not an event on a Sunday. That means meals, visits, lifts to appointments and turning up when it is inconvenient.
Sharing the Gospel
All the Gospel, to all the world. It is on our sign because it is the reason we exist — and it starts on the roads around this building.
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.
